Higher Ed Leaders Select Awareity’s TIPS as One of the Most Effective Products of 2014

January 5, 2015 — Awareity’s TIPS Prevention Platform has been recognized for making a positive difference on college campuses by higher education leaders who named it to University Business magazine’s “Readers’ Choice Top 100 Products” for 2014.

The winners, selected by University Business’ editors from hundreds of nominations, were products that received the highest number of nominations and best descriptions from higher ed leaders. The Readers’ Choice Top Products award program informs campus leaders about products their colleagues around the country are using to help their campuses excel in a variety of areas, such as technology, sustainability and academic instruction.

TIPS (Threat Assessment, Incident Management and Prevention Services) is an innovative platform of web-based tools designed to empower students, parents, faculty and staff to confidentially and anonymously report potentially harmful campus safety concerns, including violence, sexual misconduct, weapons, drug/alcohol abuse, harassment or intimidation, vandalism, , threats of harm, suicide risk, and others. Once reports are made, TIPS provides a central and secure system for campus administrators and threat assessment teams to proactively investigate the concern, objectively assess the situation, track and document all actions taken and monitor at-risk individuals with ongoing follow-ups and reminders. TIPS is an efficient tool to help colleges meet ongoing Clery Act and Title IX compliance requirements, as well as new Campus SaVE Act guidelines.

“We are excited to be honored as a Reader’s Choice Top Product by University Business readers,” said Katie Johnson, vice president of marketing and client services at Awareity. “Forming multi-disciplinary Threat Assessment and Behavioral Intervention Teams on campus is critical, but providing those teams with the tools and support to be effective is even more important. TIPS is helping ensure the right information gets to the right people in the right place at the right time – so no students slip through the cracks. This award is a true testament to our product and our dedication to ongoing safety and prevention.”

“All of our 2014 honorees should be very proud of their success,” says JD Solomon, University Business’s editorial director. “We hope that all of our readers continue to be inspired and find innovative ideas from their peers who have had successful product implementations.”
